VEHICLE FIRE, MACHINE FIRE IN CLAYMONT AND A RIT RUN

Just after midnight the company was dispatched to i95 NB just prior the rest area for a vehicle fire. Rescue 39 (9A Boyd) made the response and found a vehicle well off on the shoulder. Crews deployed the bumper line and extinguished the fire. The fire was under control in under 10 minutes. Crews assisted the state police with the investigation and waited for the tow truck. Just after backing into the station from the vehicle fire the rescue was requested to assit NCC 13 on a commercial building fire in the Claymont Steel Factory. Engine 13-2 and Deputy 13 arrived to find a machine on fire inside the building. Rescue 39 arrived next and staged at the entrance waiting for orders. Tower 11 and 25-3 arrived next. Claymont command then pulled all 3 units into the scene to assist with stretching lines to the fire. Rescue 39 officer(12A Fuller) was sent with the supervisor to secure all power to the machine before the fire could be knocked down. Once all power was secure crews from claymont put a knock on the fire while the crew from the rescue staged as the interior rit team. Units operated on scene for just over an hour under command of Deputy 13 (hassell). 2009hrs the company along with 57, 52, RIT 63 and the medics were dispatched to assist station 47 on a house fire in the Toby Farms section of Chester Township. 47-9 arrived to find unnattended cooking and held to the first unit of scene. The rescue returned and was in quarters in under 10 min.
